WhatsApp Is Not Email

The average Indian parent opens WhatsApp dozens of times a day and checks email once a week. Any critical school communication that goes only by email is essentially not being sent.

What Should Go on WhatsApp

Fee due reminders and payment confirmations. Attendance alerts when a student is absent today. Exam schedules and result notifications. Urgent announcements.

What Should Not Go on WhatsApp

Do not put everything on WhatsApp. Holiday greetings, weekly newsletters, and non-urgent updates create noise that trains parents to ignore your messages.

Message Length

Under 100 words. Parents skim long messages. Lead with the action required: Your child was absent today, not We are writing to inform you that according to our records.

Timing

Fee reminders at 9 to 10 AM. Attendance alerts at 1 to 2 PM. Never send automated messages after 8 PM.

Opt-Out Mechanism

Always include a way to contact admin if there is a dispute or difficulty. This demonstrates good faith and reduces friction.
