Why Calendar Planning Matters

Schools that plan their academic calendar reactively create unnecessary stress for students, parents, and staff. A well-published calendar, shared in April for the entire academic year, is one of the most impactful things a school can do.

Start With the Non-Negotiables

Board exam schedules, public holidays, and state government school calendar circulars are fixed. Mark these first.

Key Dates to Plan

The academic calendar must include term start and end dates, all exam dates, PTM dates, fee due dates, annual day, sports day, science fair, vacations, and teacher training days.

The Buffer Principle

Build buffer weeks into the calendar: one week before major exams with no new topics, one week after exams for result processing.

Share Early, Share Widely

Publish the calendar by May 1st for the academic year starting June. Share via WhatsApp, email, and the parent portal. The more parents who have the calendar, the fewer I did not know situations you handle in December.
